Signs, wonders through supernatural overflow

Our God is a supernatural God.

He is not limited by time, space, or human ability.

He moves in power, in miracles, in signs and wonders — not for entertainment, but to draw people to Him.

From the early church in Acts to today, the Holy Spirit is still working. He is still healing, still delivering, still transforming lives.

Acts 5:12-16 - The apostles performed many signs and wonders among the people. And all the believers used to meet together in Solomon’s Colonnade. 13 No one else dared join them, even though they were highly regarded by the people. 14 Nevertheless, more and more men and women believed in the Lord and were added to their number. 15 As a result, people brought the sick into the streets and laid them on beds and mats so that at least Peter’s shadow might fall on some of them as he passed by. 16 Crowds gathered also from the towns around Jerusalem, bringing their sick and those tormented by impure spirits, and all of them were healed.

Did you catch that?

All. Of. Them.

The power of God was undeniable. Not through human strength, not through religious rituals, but through the overflow of the Holy Spirit.

1. Signs and Wonders Glorify God, Not People

Miracles are not meant to elevate a person.

They are meant to glorify God.

The apostles didn’t seek attention. They weren’t looking for status. They simply walked in faith — and the Holy Spirit moved through them.

Acts 5:12 says, “The apostles performed many signs and wonders among the people.”

Acts 5:15 says, “people brought the sick into the streets and laid them on beds and mats so that at least Peter’s shadow might fall on some of them as he passed by.”

It wasn’t Peter’s shadow itself that healed — it was God’s anointing and favour upon Peter because Peter didn’t care about his own life; he was entirely sold out for the gospel.

Mark 16:20 - And they went out and preached everywhere, the Lord working with them and confirming the word through the accompanying signs. Amen.

Who did the confirming?

Not the apostles. The Lord.

When God moves, He does it for His glory. Not ours.

Healings, miracles, prophecies, signs, wonders, words of knowledge, and words of wisdom can fast-track people’s walk with God. While these miracles encourage our faith, our faith must never become dependent solely on miracles.

I’ve personally seen situations where healings weren’t from God but rather imitations by demonic forces. The scripture describes Satan as a “bright shining light,” capable of mimicking healings — but never capable of being the Savior. Therefore, the church must not seek signs. The church must seek the One who gives them.

2. A Supernatural Walk Requires Faith and Obedience

Miracles don’t happen in comfort zones.

Acts 5:14 - More and more men and women believed in the Lord and were added to their number.

More men and women believed in the Lord daily because the apostles did not quit despite persecution from the Sadducees and the high priests. Their relentless obedience and unwavering faith led to significant growth in the church.

Hebrews 11:6 - But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.

Walking in the supernatural demands faith and obedience, even in challenging circumstances. Without faith, pleasing God becomes impossible.

  • Faith lays hands on the sick, believing God will heal.

  • Faith steps out when logic says to stay back.

  • Faith speaks when fear whispers to stay silent.

How often do we pray weak, hesitant prayers?

“God, if it’s Your will, heal them… but if not, that’s okay too…”

Is that really faith?

God is not looking for perfect words — He’s looking for boldness.

Instead of praying vague prayers, boldly ask God for healing, trusting His power fully. Miracles require stepping out of our comfort zones, believing in God's promises, and trusting in His supernatural intervention.

3. God’s Power is for Both the Church and the World

Miracles were never meant to stay inside church walls.

Acts 5:16 - Crowds gathered also from the towns around Jerusalem, bringing their sick and those tormented by impure spirits, and all of them were healed.

Miracles lead to conversions, and that’s what happened here.

As people from towns around Jerusalem brought their sick and tormented to the apostles, everyone was healed!

Miracles point people unmistakably to the reality of God.

God’s greatest miracle is salvation, changing hearts and lives completely.

Acts 5:38-39 - And now I say to you, keep away from these men and let them alone; for if this plan or this work is of men, it will come to nothing; but if it is of God, you cannot overthrow it—lest you even be found to fight against God.”

If a move is truly of God, it cannot be stopped.

The Holy Spirit doesn’t just move in a church building — He moves wherever we take Him.

  • He moves in hospitals when we pray for the sick.

  • He moves in coffee shops when we share the Gospel.

  • He moves in our homes when we declare truth over our families.

Do we believe that?

Or have we convinced ourselves that God only works miracles in some places, for some people?

The same Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead lives in you.

THE GREATEST MIRACLE OF ALL: SALVATION

Healing is incredible. Deliverance is powerful.

But the greatest miracle is a transformed heart.

Ezekiel 36:26 – I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; I will take the heart of stone out of your flesh and give you a heart of flesh.

No sickness is worse than a soul lost in sin.

And no miracle is greater than salvation.

So keep praying.

Keep believing.

Keep trusting in the supernatural overflow of the Holy Spirit.
